Whale Adventures

How close do they come? We adhere by a strict rule of guidelines set to protect the animals and their habitat. Our mission is not to have any negative impact on the animal's environment. When we're in a position, we won't start motors in the vicinity of animals. We also do our best to avoid the path of the animals. We don't want to disrupt their behaviour patterns by being in their way of travel. In the same context, starting motors in the vicinity of animals has negative affects and can potentially be dangerous.

How often do you see whales? Between the months of May to September your chances of seeing a whale is over 90%.

What happens if we don't see any? At Emerald Sea Adventures we are upfront and honest about the whale sightings. There are many other wonderful species of marine animals to be seen, as shown in the website. If you don't get a chance to see a whale you may come again, stand-by, at any time.

When should we show up? Check-in is 20 minutes prior to departure.

What should we wear? Your suit is designed to provide you with a water resistant outer core to keepFloater Suit you warm and provide flotation. Depending on the day of course, it's always good to start a layer with a fleece style garment with a waterproof/ resistant outer core. Close toes shoes and a good sole for the deck are recommended, to be comfortable. Their is stowage on board for extra clothes and personal items, throw them in a knapsack for the trip.

Cancellation Policy: 24 hours prior to departure please. We have the right to cancel trips to due inclement weather conditions.

Dive Adventures

What is our maximum depth and bottom time? You will be briefed ahead of time to stay within recreational depth and time limits or your no-decompression limits provided by your computer. Generally don't exceed 130 feet (Advanced Cert) and maximum time in the water of an hour.

How cold is the water? In the winter month's temperatures range form 8-10 degrees Celsius. In summer 10-14 degSidney Dive boatrees Celsius. We recommend a 7mm (1/4") wetsuit or drysuit, comfortable diving is fun diving! General rule of thumb, colder the water, better the visibility.

How's the visibility? At Emerald Sea Adventures we strive to find clear water for the divers. Winter months boast visibility ranging 70-120 feet. Summer months with the plankton bloom lowers the level of visibility in areas. We try to focus summer diving times on higher tides or drift dives with clean incoming tides.

 

Can we use mixed gases/rebreathers? Yes. We facilitate all divers including technical.
